RPM Series DC/DC Converters

RECOM’s innovation increases power density, as well as efficiency, of a non-isolated SMD switching regulator in a DOSA footprint

Image of RECOM RPM Series DC/DC Module RECOM Power's RPM series is an impressive DC/DC module boasting an efficiency rating of up to 99% and providing one of the highest power densities on the market. These converters provide either 1 A, 2 A, 3 A, or 6 A and are thermally optimized to dissipate heat to deliver full output at up to 90°C without derating or forced air cooling. They possess a remarkably wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +107°C.

These switching regulators are encased in a low profile 3.75 mm metal with six-sided shielding and an attached ground plane guaranteeing optimal EMC performance. This LGA packaging also allows for the inclusion of an exceptionally high powered IC. Both input and output capacitors are included eliminating the need for any external components. With the ability to adjust output, sequence, soft-start control, on/off control, and power good signals, these power modules are ideal for IoT, Industry 4.0, and POL applications.

RECOM has made it easier for the engineer to evaluate the RPM series converter by developing an evaluation module board for each of the converters. Each board comes with an RPM-1.0, RPM-2.0, RPM-3.0, or RPM-6.0 module already soldered onto the board to enable testing of a variety of functions such as trimming, sequencing, soft‐start, enable, and sensing. The boards also come with a built-in EMC class B filter to meet EN55022 class B levels. Additionally, any overload and over temperature problems can be readily detected early in the design process.
