Mit der direkten digitalen Synthese (DDS) werden analoge Wellenformen verschiedener Frequenzen von einem digitalen Signal produziert. Die DDS wird zur Frequenzsteuerung in drahtlosen Systemen verwendet, die einen großen Bereich erfassen müssen. Die zentralen Taktgeberfrequenzen lauten 5 MHz, 16 MHz, 16,776 MHz, 25 MHz, 50 MHz, 75 MHz, 125 MHz, 180 MHz, 200 MHz, 250 MHz, 300 MHz, 400 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz, 2,5 GHz und 3 GHz mit einer Auflösung von 10 b, 12 b oder 14 b.
