STEVAL-PLC001V1 Industrial PLC Evaluation Board

STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-PLC001V1 evaluation board targets compact PLC factory automation applications. It includes a PLC control unit with digital input and output modules and various connectivity and interface options. The 3.5” TFT touchscreen mounted on the PCB provides excellent HMI interaction opportunities thanks to the TouchGFX graphics engine and STSW-PLC001 software (freely available on www.st.com), allowing users to experiment with the advanced functionality of the various ST ICs and exploit ready-to-use examples, including ladder logic demonstrations and other projects.

The system features an STM32F746ZGT7 MCU to handle the industrial IOs and the TouchGFX display, implementing the ladder logic programming code and several additional options. An eight-channel CLT01-38SQ7 and two dual channel CLT03-2Q3 provide 12 industrial inputs in total. The CLT01-38SQ7 features 6.25 MHz SPI (serial peripheral interface) with daisy chain capability and reverse polarity. The CLT03-2Q3 features two independent high- and low-side compatible channels, which can be powered from the external sensors they interface with and is capable of operating in the 60 V range for fail-safe applications. Twelve industrial outputs are handled by the eight-channel ISO8200AQ and the four-channel low-side IPS4260L. The ISO8200AQ offers a daisy-chain SPI and embedded galvanic insulation up to 4 kV, meaning no optocoupler is required.

ST morpho connectors allow connecting other expansion boards for additional functionality, and the USB connector provides an alternative supply option if a 24 V power supply is not available.
