C303 Series Bidirectional DC and AC Contactors

The Schaltbau C303 series bidirectional DC and AC contactors are engineered for operating voltages up to 1,500 volts and can continuously conduct currents up to 500 amps. Thanks to magnetic actuators with three coil control options, these contactors offer high flexibility for use in modern industrial settings, even at ambient temperatures up to +85°C. They feature a short-circuit switching capacity of up to 2,000 amps and a space-saving design, making them ideal for applications that demand high inrush currents or large power capacities where installation space is limited.

In short-circuit conditions, the contactors can endure currents of up to 5,000 amps for 20 milliseconds without contact welding, ensuring full operational capability. This enables reliable disconnection of high-power loads regardless of current direction. Such true bidirectional functionality is essential for systems with energy recovery, including charging and discharging processes found in charging infrastructure and energy storage systems (ESS). Additional applications include DC circuits in inverters, photovoltaic combiner boxes, battery management systems (BMS) for emission-free drive technologies, and stationary solutions for grid stabilization.
