veryVerilog a Mini FPGA Kit
Microchip offers an entry-level solder-and-learn platform for microcontroller and digital design fundamentals
The Microchip veryVerilog mini FPGA kit, developed in collaboration with DigiKey’s Academic Program, is designed for university and college students entering the world of embedded systems and digital logic. This kit provides a hands-on approach to learning core industry skills by combining microcontroller programming with configurable logic resources in a single platform.
Students begin by assembling the kit using through-hole components, gaining practical soldering experience. Once built, the board serves as a dual-purpose learning tool: programming Microchip PIC16 microcontrollers and exploring digital design concepts using on-board configurable logic blocks (CLBs). With a free browser-based CLB synthesizer from Microchip, students can practice Verilog programming without installing complex synthesis tools, making this kit an affordable and accessible introduction to embedded and digital design.
