PaPIRs+ Passive Infrared Motion Sensors

Panasonic Electric Works PaPIRs+ passive infrared (PIR) motion sensors are advanced sensors that represent a significant leap in motion detection, emphasizing superior sensitivity, seamless integration, and ultra-low power consumption. Building on the success of the original PaPIRs series with over 100 million units shipped, the PaPIRs+ series sets a standard for modern applications in lighting, HVAC, security, smart appliances, and IoT devices.

The innovative PaPIRs+ sensors offer up to 2x the sensitivity of traditional PIR sensors, featuring a large, black-coated pyroelectric element. With improved sensitivity, this provides exceptional detection capabilities at a height up to 17 m (24 m with the high-sensitivity type), recognizing minute movements against temperature differentials as low as +2°C. Designed for energy efficiency, models in the PaPIRs+ lineup have standby currents as low as 6 µA (EKMB series) for battery-powered solutions, along with standard 170 µA models (EKMC series) for battery-free systems.

The PaPIRs+ combines a lens, sensor, and proprietary ASIC into a compact unit for easy integration, accelerating development and reducing costs for OEMs. This in-house ASIC guarantees high noise immunity and consistent signal processing, minimizing false alarms.

The diverse lens lineup includes over ten types, such as flat wide, long distance, and ultra-wide and long distance. These are available in black, white, and pearl-white colors, supporting both standard (EKMC) and ultra-low power (EKMB) models. This variety allows for customized solutions across various applications, from standard motion detection to ultra-slight movements.
