Diese Steckleisten enthalten Stifte in einem Kunststoffsockel und ermöglichen eine Board-zu-Board-Verbindung, indem sie mit einem rechteckigen Kabelsteckverbinder oder einer Buchsenleiste verbunden werden. Sie sind mit einer Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Positionen und Raster erhältlich. Bei einigen Modellen lässt sich die Anzahl der Positionen durch Abtrennen einfach manuell ändern. Es sind sowohl verkleidete Steckleisten mit 1 bis 4 Wänden als auch unverkleidete Steckleisten erhältlich. Mögliche Montagetypen sind unter anderem Panelmontage, Kartenrandmontage, Stapelmontage, Oberflächenmontage und Durchsteckmontage.
